Germany - Year 2000 Trip

Hanover Germany speed bump

Here I am, having to slow down for the speed bumps on the way to the Paracelsus Klinik. These speed bumps are just 3 blocks from Dr. Ledwoch's office, and about 5 blocks from where we stayed.
After trying several experimental drugs here in the United States without success, I felt the need to re-contact the Paracelsus Klinik at Langenhagen, Germany. This I did last December, via e-mail to the office of Dr. Joachim Ledwoch and conversed with Monika Malchert, manager and nurse about restarting the treatments I used earlier. (February 1994)
After several back and forth e-mail messages, and consultations with Dr. Ledwoch, it was decided that I should return to Germany for more tests, and to restart treatments, but, using a new method. At least new to me. They now use an "infusion" system whereby introducing the Calcium EAP, Vitamins and other healthful items to your blood stream.
I learned through these conversations, and through information from the Brewer Institute in Wisconsin, that I should have never quit my original treatments. Even though I thought they were no longer working, they had stabilized and I was holding my own. If I had stayed on the treatments, it's entirely possible I would have started to gain some improvement. I seem to have goofed and created my own world of continued progression of the Primary M.S. (Progressive). I really do learn the hard way!
Anyway, arrangements were made and an appointment date was set for 10 a.m., Monday, April 10th, 2000. Called Royce Gorseth at "Let's Go Gorseth Travel" at Spokane, WA., and had him arrange the best flight schedule possible, at the lowest possible rates. This he did, obtaining wonderful seats both directions, and lining up wheel chair transfers for me at each point. And it all came together very nicely.
I will admit that I had a lot of fears going into this trip. They included my concern for "getting to a bathroom" QUICKLY! How am I going to navigate airplane stairs? How will I navigate the airports, the buses, the taxi's, the trains? Will I be able to do some fun things as well?
Well, to put it briefly, I had fun! I made a couple of side trips. The first was flying into DeGaulle airport in Paris and meeting my friend and touring Paris, then driving some 120 km to their home in Freneuse, Normandy, France where I stayed for a couple of days. During the stay I toured the area as well as Roune, France. It was a wonderful trip, and I would not have missed it.
We made countless trips to Hannover's downtown area via their great train system. I also took the train to Celle, one of the German cities that was not bombed during the war, and got to see "old Germany". That was also a great trip.
I stayed at the home of Johann and Krista Laese in Langenhagen. I had met them in 1996 and stayed with them at that time. They made the stay so easy and comfortable. Plus, their home is just 9 blocks from the Klinik, allowing me to walk there daily with my new heavy duty walker.
I returned home on April 25th, flying into Seattle, WA, spent that night there and drove back to our home the next day. All in all, it was a wonderful trip, a truly great experience.
The treatments went very well at the Klinik, as did the tests, x-rays and ultra-sound. Drs Ledwoch and Heindorf were very good at explaining all of the results, and in very good english. Monika Malchert and Monika Hapmeyer were so helpful and friendly - and very good at working with the infusions that I received. Smiling, friendly and willing to help, and making it easy for me as they spoke English while my German was almost nil. In fact, many people in Germany and France spoke English and I had very few problems communicating.
I learned that they not only work with M.S. patients, but with cancer, Chronic Fatique, Lyme Disease and more. And with much success. I would recommend their care to anyone seeking help for any immune system deficiencies and cancer situations.
I put together my costs and you can view them here.
And, this page will show you pictures of the staff and some of Germany. Trust you will enjoy.
