There are so many people interested in alternative treatments for multiple sclerosis, actually interested in anything that will improve our life style. Like most of the people living with this "challenge", I have researched, studied and tried many different treatments, trial drugs, vitamins, herbs, oils and so much more.

When I was diagnosed some 10 years ago, I would not accept the verdict of ALS, went to Germany and met with Dr. Hans Nieper and started his treatment. Improvement was noticeable immediately, and since that time, I committed myself to assisting others with this "challenge", through the use of my web site - flyin-blind - and being as open, and available, as possible.

I have now learned about CD-34 stem cell treatment - through Dr. Anthony G. Payne and Dr. David Steenblock. (Dr. Steenblock does the post pre-treatment and post-treatment stateside and Dr. Fernando Ramirez does the actual SCT itself in Mexico) My first contact with Dr. Payne was approximately mid June and in this short time ( 3 weeks ) I have committed to doing this treatment which is still in "trial stages". Dr. Payne has been most informative and helpful, and kind with my questions and stubbornness.

The first step was learning more about stem cells and their use, how they are harvested (from umbilical cords after natural child births) and then their subsequent use in trials. You can learn more by going to "stem cell therapies" and "stroke doctor" on my menu page.

Then I was able to visit with two M.S. people who have already had this treatment, one in December of 2002, and one in March of 2003. Both told me how much they have improved in a relatively short time. One went from a wheel chair to walking 80% of each day; from slurred speech, and at times "mute", to talking almost normally; to having more energy, less fatique and an overall better feeling without depression.

Second step was committing myself to doing this, which is no easy task since it is an expensive procedure. Third - following the procedures and protocol as outlined by Dr. Steenblock, in preparing for the treatment itself. Having my medical records sent to Dr. Steenblock for his review, then a "consultation" with Dr. Steenblock, and at this writing I have just completed the DMSA test which is used to determine mercury and other toxic mineral levels in my system. It is an easy test, self administered in my home, then sent to a laboratory in Illinois for analysis. Now am waiting for the results of this test.

I am ready to do this treatment, anxious in fact, all that is necessary at this point is the DMSA test results, making the appointment - and doing it. I will attempt to keep everyone apprised of how it all goes for me. So, keep checking back to this page - for more updates.
